|
The
Audix i5 is a professional dynamic instrument microphone designed
for a wide variety of applications for live sound and studio performance.
Characterized with a cardioid pick-up pattern and a frequency response
of 50 Hz–15 kHz, the i5 is an ideal choice for snare, toms,
percussion instruments, electric guitar cabs, brass, and acoustic
instruments. Clear, accurate, and able to handle sound pressure
levels in excess of 140 dB, the i5 can also be utilized for speech
and vocals. Transformerless design, low impedance, and balanced
output allow interference free performance, even with long cable
runs. The i5 housing and grill are precision cast parts made of
zinc-alloy metal, with durable black e-coat finish.
Operation and Maintenance: Although the i5 is designed and built to handle the rigors of live performances and touring, it should still be handled with care. Avoid extreme moisture and extreme temperatures whenever possible and store the microphone in the provided carrying pouch whenever it is not in use. Phantom power: The i5 is a dynamic microphone and does not require phantom power; be assured that phantom power will not adversely affect the performance of the i5 in any way.

D-Series (D1, D2, D3) |
With the success and acceptance of the D-series microphones,
Audix continues to be the recognized leader in percussion and instrument
microphones. The D-Series are compact and lightweight, yet feature
full size diaphragms.
By employing an exclusive Sub-Impulse Technology, D-Series
microphones will pick up transients and nuances which substantially
contribute to the accuracy and richness of the sound. The low mass
of the diaphragm, coupled with a sensitive internal air suspension,
allows the outer wall of the diaphragm to react to sound waves,
harmonics, and sub-harmonics more quickly than other microphones.
The result is a more precise sampling of the original sound.
A tight hypercardioid pickup pattern allows clear definition of
sound without the feedback problem commonly associated with placing
multiple mics in close proximity.
D1 - Snare, Bongos, Hi-hat, Cowbell
The D1 is characterized with natural
articulation and attack in the upper mid-range and will complement instruments requiring crisp, clean reproduction. The D1 requires little or no EQ and provides great results when close miking techniques are employed.
D2 - Rack toms, congas, floor toms, guitar cabs, saxophone
Considered
to be “the ultimate tom mic,” the D2 is designed to capture the warmth and punch of instruments with upper mid bass. The D2 is the perfect combination of attack and decay and can be successfully used with very little or no gating. The
D2 is a great mic for toms, all the way from large to small.
Its contoured response puts a little emphasis down low and up
top, while still letting the mids sound open and full. The D2
definitely gives more "oomph" to the toms than the
D3, which might be better for percussion played more lightly.
When compared to the D3, the D2 has more response below 160 Hertz,
a low-mid peak and a rising response to about 4K Hz. I also used
the D2 to great success with jazz kick drums mic'ed from the
beater side, for horns, and for bongos and congas.
D3 - Guitar cabs, Timbales, Trumpet, Piccolo snare, Leslie top
The
D3 employs a unique low output gain stage which acts as a natural pad in order to compensate for instruments that would normally overload most mics. Characterized with a very flat and accurate frequency response, the D3 is perfect for extremely high SPL instruments with short blasts of percussive sound.

D4 |
The
Audix D4 is an American-made instrument microphone designed primarily
for live performance. Characterized with a hypercardioid pickup
pattern and a wide frequency response of 40 Hz- 18kHz, the D4
is a perfect choice for instruments requiring precise low frequency
reproduction. Transformerless design, low impedance, and balanced
output allow interference- free performance even with long cable
runs. A dent-resistant spring steel grill and sound pressure
handling capabilities in excess of 140db add to the D4's
road-worthiness.
Operation and Maintenance: The D4 is a durable dynamic microphone with a dent-resistant spring steel grill. It still should be handled with care. Avoid extreme temperatures wherever possible. Moisture can adversely affect the sound and performance of your microphone. When not in use please store in provided pouch.

D6 |
The
Audix D6 is an American-made instrument microphone designed
for live and studio performance. Characterized with a cardioid
pick-up pattern and a frequency response of 30 Hz-15 kHz, the
D6 is an ideal choice for kick drum, bass cabs, and other instruments
requiring low frequency reproduction. Transformerless design,
low impedance , and balanced output allow interferencefree performance
even with long cable runs. The D6, a one-piece body precision
machined from solid aluminum, consists of a durable hard coat
anodized finish.
Operation and Maintenance: The D6 is a durable dynamic microphone precision machined from a solid block of aluminum. However, the capsule is highly sensitive and the microphone should be handled with care. Avoid extreme temperatures wherever possible. Moisture can adversely affect the sound and performance of your microphone. When not in use, please store in the pouch provided.

Fireball V |
The FireBall V is a professional dynamic microphone specifically designed for harmonica (both chromatic and diatonic) and beatbox. The volume knob is conveniently placed and simple to use while playing. Characterized with a smooth uniform frequency response of 50 Hz-15 kHz, the FireBall V will handle both live sound and studio applications. The microphone is clear, accurate, and capable of handling sound pressure levels in excess of 140 dB without distortion.
In addition to harmonica,
the FireBall V can also be utilized for saxophone, brass, flute, and vocals.
Transformerless
design, low impedance, and balanced output allow interference-free performance, even with long cable runs. The FireBall V consists of a durable steel mesh grill with a die cast zinc body and durable e-coat finish.
Recording: The FireBall V, which has a very sophisticated, high quality transducer element, is an excellent microphone for studio application. The tight cardioid pick-up pattern of the FireBall V, along with its ability to handle very high sound pressure levels, allows the microphone to be used for “close miking” applications to record a wide variety of instruments. In this respect, studio miking techniques for the FireBall V would be similar to those used for live sound. Live Sound: The FireBall V is a professional low impedance microphone. Therefore, you will achieve the best results if you use either mic level input on the PA system, or if you run directly into the low impedance input of an effects processor. If you are running directly into a guitar amp, you will want to purchase the Audix T-50K low to high impedance matching transformer. This will provide you with the proper gain structure and help you maximize the sound quality through your amplifier.
Applications
- Live stage, studio
- Harmonica
- Vocals
- Beatbox
- Percussion
- Saxophone, trumpet, trombone
- Flute
- Accordian
