AR-15 Series II |
The 15 amp AR-15 Series II delivers a stable 120 volts of AC power to
protect equipment from problems caused by AC line voltage irregularities
such as sags, brownouts, or overvoltages - all of which can cause
sensitive electronic equipment to malfunction or sustain damage.
AR-15 Series II accepts any input voltage from 97V to 137V and transforms
it to a constant 120V, ±5V. Voltages beyond that range may
also be converted to usable levels, depending on the range variance.
Additionally, the AR-15 Series II is the only regulator that filters
and purifies AC power, reducing line noise and ensuring optimum
performance. Not only will your equipment perform better with Furman's
advanced filtering technology, but it will also be fully protected
by our exclusive Series Multi-Stage Protection Plus circuitry (SMP+),
which features Linear Filter Technology (LiFT) and Extreme Voltage
Shutdown (EVS) with high current TVZ-MOV. This circuit provides
the highest level of power protection available.
Many competitive voltage regulators use noise-inducing, motorized
transformer-based technology. This results in large, expensive,
and less reliable units which can not match the level of performance
delivered by the AR-15 Series II. Essentially, Furman's advanced
technology allows us to offer superior performance in a single
rack space unit at a cost effective price point.
The AR-15 Series II circuitry monitors the incoming line voltage with
each cycle, comparing it to an extremely precise voltage reference,
accurate to ±0.15%. If a voltage fluctuation requires that
a different tap be selected, the new tap is switched electronically
at the zero-crossing, to avoid distorting the AC waveform. (Most
commercial voltage regulators using multiple-tapped transformers
switch taps at uncontrolled times, thereby creating voltage spikes,
and often creating clicks that can leak into the audio.) The design
is not sensitive to small errors in line frequency, making it ideal
for use with generators.
The AR-15 Series II has eight outlets on the rear panel and one on the
front panel. All outlets are regulated, spike-suppressed, and filtered
against RFI. There are no controls except the on-off switch. A
bar-graph meter comprised of 10 LED's indicates input voltage,
while another LED indicates “In Regulation” status
(i.e. that the output voltage is within ±5V of 120V).

AR-20 Series II Voltage Regulator / Power Conditioner |
The AR-20 II delivers a stable stream of AC power to protect equipment
from problems caused by AC line voltage irregularities such as
sags, brownouts, or over-voltages - all of which can cause sensitive
electronic equipment to malfunction or sustain damage. Featuring
a generous 20 amp capacity, the AR-20 II accepts any input voltage
from 97V to 137V and transforms it to a constant 120V. Voltages
beyond this range are also converted to usable levels, unless they
are extremely far out of range, in which case the unit will automatically
power down to prevent equipment damage.
Additionally, the AR-20 II is the only 20 amp regulator that filters
and purifies AC power, reducing line noise linearly and ensuring
optimum performance. Your equipment will perform at optimum levels
and will be fully protected from spikes and surges by Furman's
exclusive SMP+ technology. This virtually maintenance-free surge
suppression system incorporates Linear Filtering Technology (LiFT),
Extreme Voltage Shutdown (E.V.S.), and high current TVZ MOVs to
provide the highest level of power protection available - all without
the need for servicing or replacement of the unit. Just install
it in your rack and forget about it!
Many competitive voltage regulators use noise-inducing, motorized

technology allows us to offer superior performance in a cost effective
unit.
The AR-20 II's circuitry monitors the incoming line voltage
with each cycle, comparing it to an extremely precise voltage reference,

AR-1215 AC Line Voltage Regulator |
The 15 amp AR-1215 AC Line Voltage Regulator is intended to
protect audio, video, computer and other electronic equipment
from problems caused by AC line voltage irregularities-sags,
brownouts, or overvoltages that can cause sensitive digital equipment
to malfunction, or, in extreme cases, to sustain damage.
The AR-1215 is designed to provide a steady, stable 120 VAC
output. It accepts any input voltage from 97V to 141V and transforms
it to a constant 120V, ±5V. Voltages beyond that range
may also be converted to usable levels, depending on how far
out of range they are. The AR-1215 can handle loads totaling
up to 15 amps as long as the input voltage is above 124 volts.
For voltages below that level, its capacity must be derated at
approximately .15 ampere per volt.
The AR-1215 has been designed specifically with the unique needs
of audio and video in mind. Its technology differs from that
of computer-oriented voltage regulators in many important ways.
For example:
The AR-1215 does not use a ferro-resonant transformer, which
would be heavy and bulky, radiate a large magnetic field, and
be too frequency-sensitive to be usable with generators. Instead,
it uses a use a design based on an eight-tap toroidal autoformer.
The toroidal design assures minimal leakage of stray magnetic
fields.
The AR-1215 circuitry monitors the incoming line voltage with
each cycle, comparing it to an extremely precise voltage reference,
accurate to ±0.15%. If a voltage fluctuation requires
that a different tap be selected, the new tap is electronically
switched exactly at the zero-crossing, to avoid distorting the
AC waveform. (Most commercial voltage regulators using multiple-tapped
transformers switch taps at uncontrolled times, thereby creating
voltage spikes, and often creating clicks that can leak into
the audio.) Hysteresis of 1.5V in the switching circuits avoids "chatter." The
design is not sensitive to small errors in line frequency, making
them ideal for use with generators.
The AR-1215 also features power conditioning that is truly in
a class by itself, thanks to the quantity, quality and configuration
of the overvoltage suppression devices used. These include MOV's,
high voltage inductors and capacitors, and precise high-inrush
magnetic circuit breakers. This unique combination can safely
divert large spikes as well as filter audible high frequency
noise.
An additional feature, Extreme Voltage Shutdown, senses dangerously
high or low voltages and shuts down the output before any damage
is done. The output remains off until the overvoltage or undervoltage
is removed, with an LED indicating the shutdown condition. This
invaluable feature provides positive protection to your equipment
from accidental connection to incorrect line voltages (for example,
220V when 120V is expected-- a not uncommon hazard in the entertainment
industries.)
The AR-1215 has eight outlets on the rear panel, and one on
the front panel. All outlets are regulated, spike-suppressed,
and filtered against RFI with a 3-pole filter. There are no controls
except the circuit breaker/on-off switch. A bar-graph meter comprised
of 10 LED's indicates input voltage, while another LED indicates "In
Regulation" status (i.e., that the output voltage is within ±5V
of 120V.) The unit is housed in a compact, single-space rack-mount
chassis, 1.75" high and 8" deep (8.9 x 43.2 cm) and weighs
only 12 lbs. (5 kg).
Features
- Delivers a stable 120 ±5 VAC whenever the input AC
line voltage is between 97V and 141V
- Eight outlets on the back panel, one on the front
- Output capacity 15 amps
- Eight-tap toroidal autoformer
- 10-LED bar-graph Input Voltage meter
- Extreme overvoltage/undervoltage causes instant shutdown,

AR-PRO AC Line Voltage Regulator |
The AR-PRO AC Line Voltage Regulator is intended to protect
computer, audio, video and other electronic equipment from problems
caused by AC line voltage irregularities-- sags, brownouts, or
overvoltages that can cause sensitive digital equipment to malfunction,
or, in extreme cases, to sustain damage. It accepts single phase
input AC voltages anywhere within two capture ranges, 88 to 142
or 170 to 264 volts, and converts them to the North American
standard 120 volts (or, if desired, 100V). Voltages outside the
ranges may be converted to usable levels, depending on how far
out of range they are and what is considered usable. For example,
any voltage from 80 to 267 will be converted to 120V +9, -11.
The AR-PRO can handle loads totalling up to 30 amperes as long
as the input voltage is equal to or above 120V (low range) or
240V (high range). For voltages below that level, its capacity
must be derated at approximately 250 mA per volt.
Because the AR-PRO requires no switching to discriminate between
a nominal 120V or a nominal 240V source, it can protect against
a catastrophic error in AC mains wiring (for example, in live
performance situations, where each act requires a special AC
configuration, accidental connection to 220V occurs surprisingly
often). This feature also makes the AR-PRO ideal as a component
of a power distribution scheme suitable for worldwide use, accommodating
national voltages of 100, 120, 220, 240, or others with equal
ease and without need for readjustment.
The AR-PRO uses a design based on a 25-tap toroidal autoformer.
The toroidal design assures minimal leakage of stray magnetic
fields and a highly efficient, compact package. The AR-PRO's
circuitry monitors the incoming line voltage with each cycle.
If a voltage change requires that a different tap be selected,
the new tap is electronically switched in precisely at the zero-crossing,
to avoid distorting the AC waveform. If necessary, the AR-PRO
can switch taps as often as once each cycle. Most commercial
voltage regulators using multiple-tapped transformers switch
taps with relays at uncontrolled times, thereby creating voltage
spikes! And unlike voltage regulators that employ ferro-resonant
transformers, the AR-PRO is not sensitive to small errors in
line frequency, making it ideal for use with generators.
The AR-PRO has twelve convenience outlets on its rear panel,
and two on the front panel. All outlets are regulated, spike-suppressed,
and filtered against RFI with a 3-pole filter. There are no controls
except a master circuit breaker, which serves as an on-off switch.
Two bar-graph meters each comprised of 21 LED's each indicate
input voltage and output current, while three other LED's indicate
proper function (i.e., that the output voltage is within ±5%
of the selected voltage, or above or below that range). One or
more units may be turned on remotely, either simultaneously or
in sequence, with a simple low voltage switch closure.
The AR-PRO is housed in a double space (3.5" high and 16" deep)
rack-mount chassis, and weighs only 50 lbs (23 kg). It is made
of extremely rugged heavy-gauge black powder-coated steel. Optional
adjustable rear rack ears (order part number RRM-2) allow it
to be secured in the rear for extra stability in mounting. It
is supplied with a mating female twist-lock connector ready to
terminate your custom supply cable.
