Ghost Acoustics Block

It combines easy to install wall treatment with the facility to be used as a freestanding Gobo (using the ‘Gobo stand'). Packed with high density (100Kg per cubic metre) Glass Fibre and layers of Aluminium foil, and finished in a brushed Aluminium frame with fire retardant polyester fabric, it is a highly effective full frequency absorber (as are all Ghost products).

Test data from the Institute of Acoustics (at Tongji University, China's leading authority on acoustic studies) shows highly effective (30-44%) removal of all audible frequencies down to 200Hz, and around 20% even down to 125 Hz with standard wall mounting. Many competitor brands do not publish % absorption figures, mask/confuse true figures with data that is not easily interpreted, or quote figures which are boosted by mounting units with air gaps which will ‘artificially enhance' the performance of any acoustic tile or trap.

As an off the shelf product, we believe Ghost Traps are the most effective, affordable product on the market today.

The ‘Block' also has 2 tubes which run through it's length, and when in combination with the ‘Gobo Stand', can be used to form modular acoustic screens up to 6 feet tall (in 2 feet stages) for guitar, drum and vocal booths etc.

Ghost Acoustics Gobo Stand

It's simple, but highly effective design, lends a degree of flexibility to Ghost room treatments that no other off the shelf Acoustic brand can match. It allows the 'Block' product to be used in a variety of environments, (not just recording studios), from live performance in orchestral context, to temporary treatment of rehearsal spaces for gigging bands.

Being modular, walls of varying heights can be erected, for simple guitar cab gobos, full drum kit surrounds (bases have angled cutaways to allow for 'curved' walled areas to be constructed), or even a full vocal wall up to 6 feet (1800mm) high.

The beauty of it is that all this can be done with the SAME 'Block' product which is mounted on your studio walls for room treatment when mixing! You simply remove the 'Blocks' from their 'Easy Mount' frames, and slide them onto the 'Gobo Stand' for tracking etc. Very quick, very easy and an all in one solution which means you don't have to spend money twice on less effective foam systems which have to be permanently wall mounted, or bought as a separate freestanding product.

The Ghost 'Gobo Stand' is also easy to store, quickly flat-packing down to a height of only 65mm, so it can be kept under your console, or against a wall without getting in the way. The absorbers you use with it simply go back in their positions on the walls of your studio.

The ‘Big-Block' uses Ghost's proprietary ‘Easy Mount' system for wall fixing. Each trap ships with a lightweight metal frame which screws into the wall. Traps can then be easily hung and removed (after initial installation), in just seconds! This allows the user to alter the room's acoustic characteristics depending on the job in hand… so, if you need a more ‘live' sound to your room for recording drums for example, you can quickly remove panels to customise the acoustics, and easily replace them for listening while mixing and mastering.

Ghost Acoustics Wedge

It's main purpose is to provide key absorption with some soft diffusion at points around d the room, primarily half way between the speakers/monitors and the listening area on the side walls, helping to reduce primary side wall reflections.

In larger rooms where there is a greater surface area to treat, or for specific applications where more diffusion is required (this becomes more important for example in small rooms with very ‘square' proportions where randomising the primary sound waves from source is most difficult) it's possible to use the ‘Wedge' more widely to achieve better overall dispersion of sound waves which are not absorbed by the traps.

Ghost Acoustics Corner Trap

It offers the same full range frequency response characteristics as the slimmer Ghost traps above 250 Hz, but continues to be highly effective down to very low frequencies, removing around 30% of sound energy even down to 100Hz!!

‘Corner Traps' should first be mounted at speaker/head level in the corners on the front wall, immediately behind the main room monitors. Then, depending on room size, and the degree of Bass problem, more can be added by stacking units vertically, and by adding them to the rear corners of the room. In most cases (unless ceilings are high) one ‘Corner Trap' in each of the 4 main corners of your room at ‘listening height' should suffice to effectively control additional bass frequency build up.

It also uses Ghost's proprietary ‘Easy Mount' system for wall fixing. Each ‘Corner Trap' ships with a lightweight metal frame which screws into the wall. Traps can then be easily hung and removed (after initial installation), in just seconds. For most applications we advise you leave ‘Corner Traps' in position as these are dealing with a specific problem area, controlling excessive bass frequency as well as offering full frequency response absorption. However, if you need to move room, or house (!) they are just as quick and easy to remove as the rest of the Ghost products. The mounting frame for the ‘Corner Trap' also has a specially designed hinge mechanism which allows the product to be fitted into, or onto any shape of corner… so in older buildings where uneven walls mean corners are often not an exact 90 degree angle, fitting is still exceptionally quick and easy!

Ghost Acoustics Studio Kits

All Ghost products are made available as individual components which you can use to make up custom systems for the space you need to treat, but to help you get started we offer a 10% discount on the basic ‘Studio Kit' which you can then build from by adding more individual components… of course, you don't have to use a whole kit if your room just needs some tweaking, or if you want to use Ghost Blocks to treat a small area, doubling up as tracking Gobos.

Additional panels may be required for larger rooms, spaces with high ceilings or to create a more ‘dead' space. However, please bear in mind that Ghost absorbers are highly efficient down to 100Hz, and have much better absorption coefficients (so work much better!) than competitor foam based products. As such Ghost advises you not to overdo it on the number of panels you place in a small space. Most studio spaces don't need to be extremely ‘dead' sounding, and in fact may be uncomfortable to work in for long periods if over-treated.
